inside the buns. The one thing that you will see consistently is that we are able to reinvent and make
international food items our own by adding or subtracting ingredients as per our palette. Italians gave
us pizza and pasta and we were too happy to add them to our food tables. Cut to a scene from a
popular Bollywood film, Queen where the actress Kangana Ranaut is seen teaching an Italian on how
to make pasta more delicious by adding more salt and garlic! Yes, we are like that only. We can teach
Italians how to make their own food better. Even the Chinese would not be able to recognize the
items that have been added to their famed cuisine like Gobhi Manchurian.
Our appetite for varied taste is expanding as we progress. With our roving foodie eye, we are looking
farther East for more flavours. Thai food with its Red/Green Thai curry with rice, pad Thai noodles
have already made it to the list of top options to consider when dining out. Recently, Japanese cuisine
seem to be making inroads with Sushi all set to conquer our taste buds. It could also be because
many film stars have often spoken of their fondness for Sushi. It is a well-known fact that Indians
gets influenced with the choices that their stars make in the way they dress or eat. What is Sushi?
Sushi at its core is made with three simple ingredients: raw fish, a nori sheet, and sushi rice. Most of
us Indians are not used to eating raw meat and a large number of our country is vegetarian. So in
India, we have figured out a vegetarian option by incorporating non-traditional ingredients such as
cream cheese, avocado, pickled vegetables and fresh fruit. To make it more friendly to Indian palate,
there have been addition of strong spices, fried food, different sauces like spicy mayo, Sichuan-style
chilli bean sauce. It seems to be working. It also helps that this preparation is seen as a healthy eating
option. Sushi is becoming a popular food item to order.
Next to watch out for is Korean cuisine!
