Overview

Incorporated in 2008, the division was initiated with the belief that sports provides a connect with the community at large. Cricket particularly is celebrated in the country, and to be associated with the sport was the group’s first initiative.

The capital’s IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals, marked the beginning of this venture, followed by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) franchise of the Pro - Kabaddi league - UP Yoddhas. With a number of local kabaddi tournaments in the region, finding fresh and new local talent is part of the long-term agenda of the business.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals is a franchise cricket team that represents the city of Delhi in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Established in 2008 as Delhi Daredevils (DD), the franchise is owned by the GMR Group and JSW Group.

UP Yoddhas

UP Yoddhas (UPY) is a Kabaddi team based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. Introduced into the league in the fifth season, the Yoddhas play their home matches at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium.

Telugu Yoddhas

Telugu Yoddhas is a franchise Kho Kho Team that represents the state of Telangana in the Ultimate Kho Kho (UKK) League. The team is participating in the inaugural season of the UKK league with an objective to induct and promote India's indigenous sport of Kho Kho into a professional structure.

India Capitals

The Legend League Cricket T20 (LLC) is comprised of players who have retired from international cricket. We are 1 out of the 4 franchises which were part of the inaugural season of LLC which was played from 17th Sep to 5th Oct. It was a double round robin format league with matches being held at Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur. The final was played between India Capitals and Bhilwara Kings in Jaipur with India Capitals emerging as the Champions. The league was broadcasted live on the Disney network (Star Sports and Disney+Hotstar).

Dubai Capitals

Dubai Capitals is a franchisee Cricket team representing the city of Dubai which will play in the newly launched International League T20 (ILT20). The new six-team, City based franchise-style league is approved by the ICC and sanctioned by the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence & the Emirates Cricket Board Chairman H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. This ILT20 will have the highest No. of international players in playing XI ever seen before in franchise cricket history. The league will be played in a Home-Away round robin format across three cities: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and will start on 13thJanuary, 2023 and end on 12th February 2023. It will be broadcasted on the Zee network globally.

Seattle Orcas

GMR Sports has entered into a strategic partnership with the Seattle Orcas, a franchise cricket team representing the Greater Seattle Area and the broader Pacific Northwest region in Major League Cricket (MLC) — the USA’s newly launched professional T20 cricket league.

This collaboration marks a significant step in GMR Sports’ global expansion strategy, leveraging its deep expertise in franchise cricket to help grow the sport’s presence in the United States.

Rugby Premier League

Rugby Premier League (RPL), a franchise-based league is the first-ever tournament of its kind in India. RPL includes some of the world's finest rugby players from every major sevens playing nation, alongside India's finest talent.With the reputed group, GMR, as the Organising and Marketing Partner through its subsidiary GMR Sports, RPL is a credible, exciting and new property on the international sevens calendar.

Hampshire Cricket

A cornerstone of English cricket and a flagship addition to GMR’s global sports portfolio

Hampshire Cricket is one of England’s most storied white-ball sides, with a heritage that spans more than 150 years. Based at the iconic Utilita Bowl in Southampton, the club has built a reputation for excellence, resilience and innovation - values that strongly align with GMR’s global sporting vision.

A dominant force in the Vitality Blast T20, Hampshire has secured three championship titles and holds the joint record for the most Finals Day appearances. Across formats, the club competes in the County Championship, Metro Bank One Day Cup and Vitality Blast T20, consistently nurturing talent and producing top-tier cricket.
Hampshire’s women’s team mirrors this legacy of excellence, having won six domestic titles, including a historic domestic double in 2023, underscoring the club’s holistic commitment to player development and women’s cricket.

Utilita Bowl

A world-class international venue anchoring GMR’s presence in the UK

Opened in 2001, the Utilita Bowl is one of the UK’s most modern, purpose-built international cricket destinations and a central pillar of GMR’s growing global venue footprint.

With a 19,000-capacity stadium, a fully integrated Hilton hotel (171 rooms), the scenic Boundary Lakes Golf Course and premium dining and wellness facilities, the venue serves as a multi-experience sports and hospitality hub.

The stadium will host marquee international fixtures including England vs India and England vs Sri Lanka in 2026, followed by its first-ever Ashes Test in 2027 - a landmark moment that underscores its rising global stature. Beyond cricket, Utilita Bowl is also a major entertainment venue, hosting concerts for up to 35,000 spectators, positioning it as one of the South of England’s leading destinations for sport, leisure, and large-scale live events.

Its inclusion in the GMR ecosystem strengthens the Group’s diversified presence across global cricket infrastructure, sports tourism and fan-led entertainment.

Southern Brave

A marquee franchise in The Hundred, rooted in high-performance and fan engagement

Southern Brave is one of the eight premier franchises competing in The Hundred. Based at the Utilita Bowl, the franchise embodies the competition’s modern, fast-paced, family-first brand of cricket.

Across both men’s and women’s teams, Southern Brave has been one of the league’s most consistent contenders - reaching six finals and winning two titles (Men’s 2021, Women’s 2023). Their matches routinely attract sell-out crowds, contributing to the team’s reputation as one of the competition’s best-supported and most exciting brands.
