GMR Airports Limited [formerly GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited] (“GAL/Company”), was incorporated on May 10, 1996. GAL is a public listed Company and the equity shares of the Company are listed on National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) and BSE Limited (BSE).
GAL is a flagship Company of GMR Group and is holding Company for predominantly the Airport and Airport related adjacency businesses of the GMR Group. GAL is engaged in infrastructure activities, development, operations and maintenance of airports along with the offering of integrated security solutions either by itself or through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) created for this purpose.
GAL is the largest private airport operator in Asia and amongst the largest globally, current operational passenger handling capacity of around 150 million annually. The Company’s strength lies in bidding, financing, project & operations management and partnership development. This has helped the Company in bidding for large Airports and enabling it to extend its presence in international markets.
The airport portfolio comprises the iconic Delhi International Airport (the largest and fastest growing airport in India), Hyderabad International Airport (pioneering greenfield airport which is known as the torch bearer of innovation and technological adoption) in India and the greenfield Manohar International Airport, at Mopa, Goa (a gateway to explore India’s leading sun, sand and sea destination) and Bidar Airport in Karnataka. The Group is also acting as technical service provider for Mactan Cebu International Airport in Cebu, Philippines after disinvestment in GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation. The Company has also expanded its overseas footprint, in partnership with Angkasa Pura II (AP II) is operating the Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, Indonesia.
The Group is currently developing Bhogapuram airport in India and Crete airport in Greece. Both airports are poised to transform the economy and landscape of the surrounding areas when ready. It has also signed a concession agreement with the Government of Karnataka to commission, operationalize and maintain the Civilian Enclave at the Bidar Airport in North Karnataka, India. Further, the Company has entered into the concession agreement to upgrade, develop and operate the Nagpur International Airport.
As a pioneer in implementing the path breaking Aerotropolis concept in India, the Company through its subsidiaries is developing airport cities on the commercial lands available around the airports in Delhi, Hyderabad and Goa. GMR Group is developing unique airport cities on commercial lands available around its airports in Delhi, Hyderabad and Goa. GMR Delhi Aerocity is a landmark business, leisure, and experiential district. Similarly, GMR Hyderabad Aerocity is coming up as a new-age smart business hub.
To further strengthen our capabilities across the airport sector, Groupe ADP joined our journey in 2020 as a strategic partner and is now a co-promoter in GAL. This robust industrial partnership between GAL, the flagship company of the GMR Group and Groupe ADP, a leading international airport operator, aims to create the largest and most responsible airports alliance globally with key focus on setting up highest industry standards in terms of sustainability, passenger experience, operations, information technology/innovation, airport service & offerings, design, engineering and project management.
The Company is managing the Airports segments and through its wholly owned subsidiary RAXA Security Services Limited (RAXA) is managing the security solutions business.
RAXA was formed with an aim to deliver cost-effective and comprehensive solutions by bringing together the best of people and technology along with diverse industry and customer experience. The exclusive RAXA Training Academy, paves way for building a pool of qualified security professionals trained in latest techniques and methods. RAXA provides the complete spectrum of security solutions, including the installation and maintenance of intrusion detection system, CCTV surveillance system, access control systems and more. These are planned and built in collaboration with renowned technology partners.
