At GMR Group, social responsibility is not merely a commitment; it is woven into our very identity. One such shining example is Reddi Ramana, whose journey exemplifies the profound impact of compassion and resilience in transforming communities.

Guided by the principle of "Satyameva Jayate" (truth always triumphs), Ramana’s early life challenges instilled in him a deep desire to uplift the underprivileged. From his role as a Library Assistant at the GMR Institute of Technology in Rajam, Andhra Pradesh, he has emerged as a catalyst for change, championing initiatives that have touched countless lives. In 2005, Ramana co-founded the Asaya Youth Association in Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh, with a vision to improve lives through education, healthcare, and environmental conservation. What began as a modest initiative has grown into a movement of hope, transforming rural communities.

One of Ramana’s most impactful contributions is his Mobile Bike Library, a project he has led with passion for over eight years. Riding his bike to remote villages, he has brought educational books to children and youth in underserved areas, sparking a love for learning and breaking barriers to education. His vision extended further with the establishment of 25 community libraries, offering free access to resources and empowering over 5,000 students. These efforts have not only nurtured young minds but have also provided pathways to brighter futures.

Ramana’s dedication to healthcare is equally transformative. By organizing 75 free medical camps and facilitating 10,000 cataract surgeries, he has restored health and dignity to those who might otherwise have been forgotten. His work in addressing hunger is another testament to his compassion, ensuring that 50 orphans living in railway stations and bus complexes receive daily meals—a gesture that feeds not just their bodies but their spirits.

Environmental conservation is another area where Ramana’s commitment shines brightly. Planting 5,000 saplings annually, he has contributed to the growth of over 100,000 trees in the Vizianagaram District. His efforts have enriched the local ecosystem and reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship as an integral part of social responsibility.

For his extraordinary efforts, Ramana has received numerous accolades, including the National Youth Award from the Government of India. Recognized by over 40 organizations, his work stands as a beacon of hope and a powerful reminder of the change one individual can inspire.

At GMR Group, we are proud to support and celebrate champions like Reddi Ramana, whose relentless pursuit of positive change resonates with our core values. His story reminds us that each of us holds the power to make a difference, proving that with empathy and determination, we can spread hope, drive change, and build a brighter future—one initiative, one life, and one community at a time.
